Pacy, sharp, calm  and lethal in finishing, Andriy Shevchenko was easily one of the best strikers in the world in the 2000s. This was demonstrated by his winning of the prestigious Ballon d’Or in 2004, when he helped AC Milan won the Champions League and Scudetto in 2003 and 2004 respectively. When Shevchenko left AC Milan after seven seasons to join Chelsea in 2006, he was their all-time second top scorer after the legendary Gunnar Nordahl, with 172 goals in 296 matches to his name.

Shevchenko, however, was unable to replicate his goalscoring form for Chelsea, and he returned to AC Milan on loan for one season, before calling quit in the Premier League and went back to his first club Dynamo Kyiv in his native Ukraine in 2010.

Shevchenko was Ukraine’s all-time top scorer, with 48 goals in 111 caps. Against all underwhelming odds, he captained his country to the quarter-finals in Ukraine’s debut in the World Cup in 2006. Shevchenko is currently the manager of Ukraine national team.
