A graceful attacking midfielder and the best French playmaker before Zinedine Zidane, Michel Platini had the talents in passing, goalscoring and freekicks. His career highlight came in 1982 when he moved to Juventus after spending ten seasons in his native France. At the Italian club, Platini won all major trophies including two Scudetto and an European Cup.

At the international level, Platini represented France in three World Cups. His greatest moment was in the 1984 UEFA European Championships, where he led the national team to victory. His nine goals scored in the tournament also won him the Golden Boot. His spectacular performances won him the European Footballer and World Player of the Year.

Platini managed France for four years after his hanging up of boots in 1987. He was elected to be the president of UEFA in 2007. However, in 2015, he was accused of corruption in his bid to run for FIFA presidency. Found guilty, Platini was banned from football-related activities until 2023.
