England’s golden boy and wonderkid of the 2000s, Wayne Rooney announced his arrival at the football scene with an outrageous last minute winner against Arsenal in 2002. He was only five days before his 17th birthday, making him then the youngest goalscorer in the Premier League.
English giant Manchester United seized the opportunity and signed Rooney from Everton in 2004 for £25.6 million, smashing the British record for the most expensive teenage footballer. Rooney went on to become a Manchester United legend, helping the Red Devils to win every domestic and European glories possible in football. His 253 goals in all competitions was the club’s all-time goalscoring record.
