Italy’s legendary goalkeeper Dino Zoff held many records. He was the only Italian player to win both the UEFA European Championship and FIFA World Cup. Captaining the national team in the 1982 World Cup, he was the oldest player ever to lift the trophy, at age 40. In the tournament, he also won the best goalkeeper award.
Great at stopping shots and handling crosses, Zoff was also a calm and composed leader on the field, marshalling his defence superbly. He joined Juventus at a relatively late age of 30, but helped the club in winning six Scudetto and dominating the Italian football throughout the seventies and early eighties.
After retiring as a player in 1983, Zoff went on to manage Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina. He also coached Italy in the late nineties, and led them to a second place finish in the Euro 2000.
