1982 was Rossi’s best moment in his football career. He scored six goals to help Italy win their third World Cup, and Rossi became just the third player in history, after Garrincha (Brazil) and Mario Kempes (Argentina), to have won the World Cup, Golden Boot and Golden Ball. To add to his outstanding performances and glorious achievements, Rossi was also awarded the Ballon d’Or as the best European footballer in 1982.
After the World Cup, Rossi continued to have successes at club level, helping Juventus to win the Scudetto and the prestigious European Cup. When he retired in 1987, his football stats stood at 134 goals in 338 matches in all competitions.
