Possessing a short stature but with tree trunk thighs, Roberto Carlos was most famous for his thunderbolt freekicks and explosive pace, and a willingness to surge forward the left flank to join in the attacks. In doing this, he also added many spectacular goals of his own. While this added extra firepower to the team’s offense, there were, however, critics of Roberto Carlos neglecting his defensive duties which led to some goals by the opponents.

Roberto Carlos’ best career moments were between the mid-nineties and mid-2000s, when he was one of the best left backs in the world. As a permanent fixture in the Galacticos team of Real Madrid and the Brazilian national squad, he had won everything in soccer, including four Spanish La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and the prestigious World Cup in 2002.

After 11 seasons and 13 trophies won at Real Madrid, Roberto Carlos moved on to have brief stints in the Brazilian, Turkish and Russian leagues before hanging up his boots in 2012.
