Hardworking, aggressive and not afraid to put in tough tackles, Edgar Davids, with his trademark dreadlocked hair and goggles, was a beast on the football field, protecting the defensive backline and pushing forward in attacks.

In a career that saw him play in Dutch, Italian, English and Spanish (on loan) leagues, Davids had won numerous trophies including league titles, domestic cup and the prestigious Champions League. For Holland, Davids played an important part in the late nineties and early 2000s, as the Oranje finished a respectable fourth and third position in the 1998 World Cup and 2000 European Championship respectively. For his performances, Davids was named in the Team of the Tournament in both occasions.

Davids’ experience in England was less successful, but he went on to gain managerial experience by becoming the player-manager at Barnet during the twilight of his illustrious football career.
